Aunsbjerg is an innovative and dynamic car dealership, who is making a huge effort to keep up with the trends, in an industry that is moving extremely fast. Aunsbjerg has chosen to install a storage robot as part of their new warehouse solution, which has resulted in a precious reduction of both time and space.
Aunsbjerg is now saving up to 85% space compared to tradtional shelf storage and has therefore been able to use most of their square metres on a large showroom. A comprised warehouse yields a quick access to the products, which benefits the customer in terms of a reduced amount of time spent and a higher level of precision.
Aunsbjerg is originally a family business and has roots all the way back to 1926, where the first generation took over a workshop in Lunderskov. Since then, a huge business has emerged and Aunsbjerg is now ruling over 4 car dealerships and is covering a large amount of Jutland. At Aunsbjerg, they do not believe in doing what you have always done.

This is for example why a completely new way to buy a car has been developed at Aunsbjerg, so that the customers can buy a car that is customized to their exact needs. The customers are another important factor at Aunsbjerg.
“Service is our livelihood”, Aunsbjerg proclaims, a constant focus is therefore on developing the car dealership in a way that benefits the customer in the greatest way possible. This is also the reason why it seemed natural that storage robots were to become part of a new storage solution.
The storage robot would have a positive impact on the service level, by reducing the amount of time spent and increase the level of precision, while also providing more room for showroom and sales.
It was due to a relocation that Aunsbjerg started contemplating a new storage solution. The car dealerships department in Kolding had until now consisted of three buildings, but Aunsbjerg wanted to sell one and establish respectively workshop and showroom in the remaining two, in order to make the department more unified.
With less space available, Aunsbjerg needed the new warehouse solution to utilize the square metres in the best way possible, yielding a lot of space for the showroom area.
Furthermore, Aunsbjerg wanted a storage solution that was highly efficient and with an optimized uptime, where the spare parts are easily accesible, so that the tasks at the workshop can be executed with a high level of efficiency.
Aunsbjerg was also looking for a danish machine, that was developed within the country, so that the service technicians would be within reach and the response time therefore short.
Aunsbjerg chose EffiMat Storage Technology A/S to develop the ideal warehouse solution and the first stage of the proces, was a visit to Aunsbjerg to examine how a storage robot would fit into the new and smaller buildings. A thorough analysis of needs and the internal flow at the warehouse was conducted in order to create a solution that redeemed the ambitions of Aunsbejrg in terms of a high level of efficiency and a full exploitation of sqaure meters.
The solution ended up being a unit of the ClassicMat™storage robot. The ClassicMat™is developed and designed with the ability to exploit the square meters at the warehouse in the most ideal way possible and is also developed to optimize the picking speed.
Aunsbjerg has therefore been able to put a 200 m2 warehouse into a storage robot of 25m2, and at the same time reduce the handling time at each service with 10-20% because the access to parts is fast, precise and efficent.
ClassicMat™ was a light weight construction and PLC-control, which makes it highly efficient and a remote access makes it easy for our technicians to monitor the storage robot and conduct updates, as it is possible to debug from the distance. This secures an uptime of 99,5% and a great reliability.
The ClassicMat™ is being installed as a stand-alone solution, but after request from Aunsbjerg, is it possible to integrate it with their DMS system, which make it a future oriented solution.

A comprised warehouse also provides an easy access to the products and that provides a significant reduction of the mechanics waiting time and the customers will also benefit, as they will be able to enjoy a reduced amount of waiting time as well. Waste will also be reduced, as expensive tools can be stored under safe circumstances and it is possible to create a password for selected shelfs.
Aunsbjerg is furthermore improving the working environment and the safety, because the use of ladders and mechanical handling equipment are being eliminated. With their new warehouse solution, Aunsbjerg is well equipped for the future, in an industry that is constantly changing. The car dealership has once again managed to solve their challenges with an innovative mindset and will be able to continue to provide their costumers with service of the highest quality, with their new and effective warehouse solution.
